Mark De Abreu, who is wanted in connection with the gunning down of Ricardo Rodrigues earlier this month, was Monday detained for questioning.
“He is in police custody assisting with the investigations,” police force spokesman, Ivelaw Whittaker said in a statement. A wanted bulletin had been issued for De Abreu, saying investigators needed to question him.
Police Chief of Criminal Investigations, Seelall Persaud has said that investigators to date have no clear evidence that De Abreu might have pulled the trigger.
Other police sources say he might have some knowledge about the October 15 incident at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club, Albert Street, George town.
Rodrigues Chief Security has already surrendered to police for questioning on grounds that he had been unusually absent from his boss’ side at the time of the incident.
A Canadian man, Jean Le Blanc, died suddenly on Friday in the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, two weeks after he was shot to one of his buttocks at the same incident. An autopsy is to be performed on his body on Wednesday.
