A 21-year-old motorcyclist died in an accident on Mandela Avenue last night after he collided with a car. Dead is Marvin Williams, 21, of North Ruimveldt. The accident occurred at about 10:45 pm on Mandela Avenue between Hadfield and D’urban streets.  Precise details on how the accident occurred were sketchy last night. Williams was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Hospital sources said that he suffered massive head injuries. This newspaper was told that police have held the driver of the vehicle which hit Williams. When this newspaper visited the scene the car and the motorcycle were still there. Williams’ helmet was on the windshield of the vehicle while the motorcycle lay on the opposite side of the road. The seat of the motorcycle was some distance away. Persons on the scene said they were not there when the accident occurred. The driver reportedly assisted in carrying Williams to the hospital. Police are investigating.

The Mark Benschop Foundation was officially launched in March 2008 by its founder and chairman Mark Benschop and other concerned Guyanese and well wishers in the United States of America.
