Gunmen stole $1M cash from the cashier at the Rose Hall Laparkan office yesterday morning and also escaped with a .32 revolver they took from the security guard. Police in a press statement last evening said that they are investigating the armed robbery which occurred at about 9.15 am. Two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, held up the security officer at the Laparkan security guard and relieved him of his gun. Investigations, police said, revealed that they then proceeded into the office where they held up the cashier and took away the cash. The men subsequently escaped in a motor vehicle. When Stabroek News visited the area yesterday afternoon the Laparkan location had already closed. Several persons who operate businesses close by told this newspaper that they were not aware of the incident. |
