NEW YORK,  (Reuters) – Two Islamist militants were found guilty today by a federal jury in New York of plotting to bomb the city’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. Russell Defreitas, 67, a U.S. citizen born in Guyana, and Abdul Kadir, 58, of Guyana, conspired to blow up buildings, fuel tanks and pipelines at the airport in the New New York City borough of Queens. They were arrested in June 2007. Defreitas, a former employee at the airport, provided knowledge of its facilities and layout, U.S. prosecutors said, while Kadir, an engineer, helped with technical aspects such as how to blow up the buried fuel pipelines.

Mission Statement

The Mark Benschop Foundation was officially launched in March 2008 by its founder and chairman Mark Benschop and other concerned Guyanese and well wishers in the United States of America. What started as a small operation geared toward helping those in need has grown so large that they were forced to move their offices to a whole building in East Street where the vast amount of people responding to their generosity  could be accommodated.
