Denis Chabrol,
I guess you have read my letter re the caption. Your response is confusing since you have taken the stance of inviting me on your program to address “these issues frontally and frankly.” This act has further concretized my suspicions, for here again you and Lloyd King having publicly accused me but when challenged I am asked to defend myself. There exists a fundamental principle which states: he that asserts must first call to prove. And in this case it is Demerara Waves who accused Lincoln Lewis and the TUC as such you would have to provide the evidence or withdraw the accusations.

Be reminded that while your program is in the public airwaves, a freedom you enjoy, this freedom comes with responsibilities, one of which is that statements cannot be made on whims and fancies. Your analyst believes that because he has control of the microphone he is free to do as he wishes. It will not be at the expense of my integrity and the truth.
Recall is made of your recent role and experiences as President of the divided Guyana Press Association where your intentions appeared good and your desire to advance the cause of the organization were made known. You were tested when Gordon Moseley, Capital News Reporter, was banned from Office of the President and State House. You led the just action to have the ban lifted but were not supported by media personnel employed in the state and government friendly media houses. The protest was suspended and subsequently died while we continue to see a divided media community. I privately questioned the decision to suspend the protest and you explained the difficulties you encountered and I empathized with you.
As a journalist you would be aware of independent labour’s challenges with the government, the withdrawal of the TUC/Critchlow Labour College subventions, the cause of the split in the movement, the targeted political vindictiveness of the government, the bauxite impasse, imposition of wage increase over the last 9 years on public servants, government refusal to complete the implementation of the 1999 Arbitration Award, etc. Yes, there is always room for evaluation and improvement in the TUC, like there is/ was in the DIVIDED Guyana Press Association and every other organization. Notwithstanding this the stated issues are in the public domain. The fact that Demerara Waves chose to disregard them, refused to seek information and instead chose to lie and engage in character assassination, is deserving of a public withdrawal and no middle of the line approach to resolving this matter that I take very seriously.
Your invitation for me to appear on Demerara Waves is not accepted until such time as I find your medium willing to be fair and just. Demerara Waves will have to first do a retraction of the misrepresented statements and demonstrate that it is not just willing to stereotype/malign certain leaders in our society.

Mission Statement

The Mark Benschop Foundation was officially launched in March 2008 by its founder and chairman Mark Benschop and other concerned Guyanese and well wishers in the United States of America. What started as a small operation geared toward helping those in need has grown so large that they were forced to move their offices to a whole building in East Street where the vast amount of people responding to their generosity  could be accommodated.
