Police are investigating yet another shooting incident in the city which has left a man nursing three gunshot wounds. Reports are that 39-year-old Troy Collins of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, was attacked and shot by two gunmen just after 22:40 hours near a fish shop at Orange Walk Bourda. According to a police statement, Collins was standing on the road when he was confronted by two men armed with handguns. The men discharged several rounds which struck Collins in the groin, left thigh and left knee, after which they took away his personal jewellery and $200,000 in Guyana currency and escaped in a motor vehicle that was parked in South Road.

Collins was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted. He has since undergone two surgeries to have bullets removed from his body.
Meanwhile Collins told this newspaper that he and a group of friends were playing dominoes just outside of a shop. He recalled that after the game was finished he and one of his friends were standing and talking when two men came walking towards them.
“Me partner like he notice dem men first and I see he start running, and de men dem come up to me and tell me ‘we boss send we fuh you’, I see dey pull out gun and start pulling de trigger but de gun snap a few times,” Collins related.
He added that in a bid to thwart the gunmen he ended up in a scuffle with one of them as the other attacker kept shooting in their direction.
Collins said he was struck by bullets after the gunman whom he held onto managed to free himself and shoot at him.
“After I realize that dey more than me and one tell the other one kill this man quick, I jump in a nearby trench and they run away because they thought I dead or something,” Collins added.
Collins said he has never seen his attackers since he has no problem with anyone.
Police have since launched an investigation.
