| Accounts clerk buys $60 MILLION house |

Tongues were set wagging in the housing when a woman, who up to last year was an accounts clerk attached to the Guyana Oil Company, bought a home for $60 million in Bel Air Park. The house was owned by John Willems, formerly of Willems Timber and Trading Company.
Reports are that the former accounts clerk, Kavita Ramdihol –ID number 1706462– and her mother Sudamenee Ramdihol, –ID number 1706465–completed the transaction on Febrauary 2, this year. The transaction was entered into with Willems acting on behalf of Wanda Willems, Dominique Winifred Willems Gomes of Trinidad, and Ruth Alexandrina Hunt of England, on August 28 last year.Located at the top of Lama Avenue, Bel Air Park, the house has been in the Willems family for decades. According to reports, the first approach was made to John Willems by Chief Executive of the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority Lionel Wordsworth. Willems, using the services of his attorney, Leon ‘Gun’ Rockillfe, agreed to the sale. Wordsworth initiated the purchase but it is not clear whether he was acting on behalf of the Ramdihols. He is said to be close with Kavita Ramdihol. A source said that the house was paid with four cheques that came from an overseas bank. The transactions were conducted at Republic Bank. The signatures on the cheque were not disclosed. Some are of the view that Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority should declare whether Ms Ramdihol’s income taxes reflect her worth to the extent that as an accounts clerk she could purchase a $60 million house. |
