Peoples Release

There is enough information in the public domain that the Government of Guyana had closed association with drug accused Roger Khan.  The nation has learnt through reports coming out in the media that Minister Leslie Ramsammy shared emails with Roger Khan to aid in the purchasing and training of spy equipment which is enough to warrant an investigation of the police.

Roger Khan in full page advertisements in 2006 boasted of his association with the Government of Guyana and in helping them in crime fighting. Roger Khan was a fugitive wanted by the United States Government but was allowed to play a major role in our policing. This man was not only a criminal on the run from the US government, he was also not a police.

* Khan was a wanted fugitive from the USA authorities between 2002 and 2006 but was able to acquire property signed by President Jagdeo, made under the Public Corporations Act and published in the Official Gazette. Source:June 21, 2009

*The organisation imported large quantities of cocaine into Guyana, which was then shipped to the Eastern District of New York and other places for distribution. The US government said Khan’s enforcers committed violent acts and murders on Khan’s orders that were directly in furtherance of his drug trafficking conspiracy. The paramilitary squad was referred to as the ‘Phantom Squad,’ which a confidential US source said was responsible for “at least 200 extra-judicial killings” in Guyana between 2002 and 2006. It is not enough for President Jagdeo when asked about Minister Ramsammy role with Roger Khan to say that he spoke to Minister Ramsammy who denied any involvement. Justice must run its course and the police have a role in ensuring this is done. It is the responsibility of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Henry Greene, to pursue an investigation into the allegations made by Roger Khan’s lawyer. This is a serious criminal matter that requires the police getting to work at once. Roger Khan phantom squad is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of young men, many of whom bodies are yet to be found, cause of death to be revealed, and loved ones not  having the opportunity to bury their remains.

The Police have a duty To Serve and Protect. Over the years we have seen the police failing to do their job in a professional manner. And in some instances we get the impression that the police have made a decision to leave some cases unsolved. The nation still awaits answers into the death of journalist Ronald Waddell.

Mission Statement

The Mark Benschop Foundation was officially launched in March 2008 by its founder and chairman Mark Benschop and other concerned Guyanese and well wishers in the United States of America. What started as a small operation geared toward helping those in need has grown so large that they were forced to move their offices to a whole building in East Street where the vast amount of people responding to their generosity  could be accommodated.
