Switzerland cancelled trip… OP erred
Thursday, 02 July 2009
Roger Luncheon- Dr. Luncheon
Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, yesterday admitted that the President’s public relations department erred by not releasing information that President Bharrat Jagdeo would have no longer be visiting Switzerland following his trip to Canada.
During his weekly press briefing, Dr. Luncheon agreed that the Office of the President should have issued a statement. “It is one of the slips that we would have to be aware of and prevent this reoccurrence,” Dr. Luncheon said. The Guyana Consul in Canada had issued a statement saying that the Head of State would have been visiting Switzerland following the 14th annual Guyana Festival in Toronto last week. However, the Office of the President failed to issue any statement on this cancellation but lashed out at Kaieteur News columnist, Freddie Kissoon, for asking questions about the President’s visit to Switzerland.
Kissoon’s comments were based on the statement by the Guyana Consul.

Mission Statement

The Mark Benschop Foundation was officially launched in March 2008 by its founder and chairman Mark Benschop and other concerned Guyanese and well wishers in the United States of America. What started as a small operation geared toward helping those in need has grown so large that they were forced to move their offices to a whole building in East Street where the vast amount of people responding to their generosity  could be accommodated.
