DPP to advise on Ramlal, McLean application
Wednesday, 01 July 2009
Sita RamlalSupreme Court Registrar Sita Ramlal and Norman McLean yesterday made another court appearance before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and were both ordered to return on July 27 when the matter would be re-assigned and set for reports. Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith told the court that investigations into the matter had been completed but advice is still to be solicited from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to decide on the application of the Administration of Justice Act (AJA) to the matter.

The accused were then ordered to return to court on July 27 for reports and reassignment in their matter.

On April 27, Ramlal, 58, of 2 Bel Air and McLean, 74, of 77 Forshaw Street were not required to plead to the indictable charge of conspiracy to commit a felony when they were read to them by the Acting Chief Magistrate.

It is alleged that on December 10, 2004 and March 18, 2009 at George-town, with intent to defraud, Ramlal and McLean conspired with each other and a person or persons unknown to forge an adoption order with respect to a child, purporting to show that the said adoption order was issued on December 14, 2000, knowing same to be false.

Mission Statement

The Mark Benschop Foundation was officially launched in March 2008 by its founder and chairman Mark Benschop and other concerned Guyanese and well wishers in the United States of America. What started as a small operation geared toward helping those in need has grown so large that they were forced to move their offices to a whole building in East Street where the vast amount of people responding to their generosity  could be accommodated.
