Is Guyana dead or dying?
Friday, 26 June 2009
Freddie KissoonOne of Guyana’s most prominent citizens, very well educated, with lots of money and also a strident critic of the Jagdeo presidency, said to me on the telephone on Monday morning, that he is losing hope about change in Guyana. We talked and we looked at  how disappointing are so many persons and organizations in this country.

Victims of groupthink
Wednesday, 24 June 2009
Freddie KissoonI wrote a few columns ago that I intend to answer some of the questions I encounter from my readers. I began that policy with an essay on why Moses Nagamootoo failed to attract support from PPP leaders he would have shared thirty-year relations with.
Quite a large number out there is interested in knowing about the electoral future of the AFC; would Mr. Corbin be the PNC’s presidential candidate; will the Government survive the released confession of Roger Khan; who will be the PPP’s point man in 2011; will the Constitution be changed to give Mr. Jagdeo a third term; will the PPP regain Parliament and the presidency in 2011.

So-called achievements: The hidden dimensions
Tuesday, 23 June 2009
Freddie KissoonDon’t you find it funny when you read statistics about - how many schools there are in Guyana compared to when the PNC was in power; how many healthcare centers have been opened up compared to when the PNC was in government; how many infrastructural facilities have been built like new roads and wharves that didn’t exist for the 28 years of PNC rule?

Columnists - Freddie Kissoon

Freddie Kissoon When Mrs. Janet Jagan wrote two columns in the Mirror, in support of the election of Barack Obama, I thought that hypocrisy in the life of the PPP has and will have no limits. In one of those articles, she stated her reason for wanting Mr. Obama to become the President of the US. She felt Mr. Obama would civilize American power.

President Jagdeo was at UG
Friday, 19 June 2009
Freddie Kissoon I heard on Wednesday morning that Mr. Jagdeo was going to be at UG in the afternoon of the same day to speak to the University community. I immediately rearranged my itinerary for that day. I always wanted to meet with Mr. Jagdeo in front of an audience so we can have an exchange on Guyana, nothing else but our country. That is an inexhaustible agenda.

Mission Statement

The Mark Benschop Foundation was officially launched in March 2008 by its founder and chairman Mark Benschop and other concerned Guyanese and well wishers in the United States of America. What started as a small operation geared toward helping those in need has grown so large that they were forced to move their offices to a whole building in East Street where the vast amount of people responding to their generosity  could be accommodated.
