Proprietress of Little Rock Hotel & Television Station Pearl Dindyal, also known as Pearl Christie and staffers were robbed of cash, jewellery and a quantity of items in excess of  $1M by bandits yesterday.

The attack occurred just before midnight on Friday, when an unmasked male, entered the Lot 68 Vryman’s Erven bar and ordered a soft drink. After being served, he walked towards the northern gate and suddenly stopped and two other masked men, armed with hand guns ran into the yard. I respond to a statement put out by four PPP/C members on the UG Council. I believe my clarifications are not necessary because all the dimensions of the Council’s actions have been publicly ventilated. What the statement by these PPP Councilors has done is to further expose the bankruptcy of the PPP leadership of Guyana. In every paragraph, the lies are so blatant that if gives concerned UG employees a chance to speak to the Guyanese people to demand changes at UG

Why has the DPP or Police not speedily led the PI on the following cases?

The ability to conduct an effective Preliminary Inquiry (PI) in an effective, efficient and timely manner is the foundation on which the entire criminal justice system should be built on.  If the State is unable to prove there is a “prima facie” case with enough evidence to proceed in a Court of Law, then the State does not have the moral authority to keep one locked up in jail for years to hide their inability to conduct a proper crime investigation.  Justice delayed is justice denied and this is exactly what happened to Justin John who was allowed to languish in the lock up for 7 years without a fair hearing until Justice Roxanne George got involved.  It is unfair that the State accuse a person of a misdeed and then when called upon to put up or shut up with the evidence, the Police and the DPP Chambers “gulp for air like a fish out of water” and cannot provide in a timely manner the evidence beyond the shadow of a doubt that the accused is guilt.

Mission Statement

The Mark Benschop Foundation was officially launched in March 2008 by its founder and chairman Mark Benschop and other concerned Guyanese and well wishers in the United States of America. What started as a small operation geared toward helping those in need has grown so large that they were forced to move their offices to a whole building in East Street where the vast amount of people responding to their generosity  could be accommodated.
